Goode.\r\nHot licks, showing off, ah, number one.\r\nWell I practiced all day and up into the night,\r\nMy papa's hair was a gettin kinda white.\r\nHe didn't dig that,ah, rock and roll.\r\nHe said, \"You can stay boy, but that's gotta go.\"\r\nHe's a square; just didn't dig me at all.\r\nSo I packed my guitar, picks and all, and I said farewll to my poor old pa.\r\nI split for Memphis where they say 'you all'\r\nAnd them swinging cats are a havin a ball.\r\nYeah, they love me down there, guitar picks and all.\r\nI was rocking and bopping and getting all the breaks,\r\nAnd the girls all said that I had what it takes,\r\nWhen up steps a man with a big cigar. He said. \"Come here, kid.\r\nI'm gonna make you a star.\"\r\nPut you on \"Bandstand', buy you a cadillac. Sign here, kid.\"\r\nSo I signed my name and became a star, having a ball with my guitar.\r\nDriving a big, long cadillac. And fighting the girls off'n my back.\r\nBut they just keep a comin, screaming, they love it.\r\nSo I picked my guitar with a great big grin\r\nAnd the money just kept on rollin in.\r\nAnd then one day my Uncle Sam said (thump, thump, thump) \"here I am!\r\nUncle Sam needs you, boy. Gimme that guitar. Take this rifle.
